Silja, who is celebrating her 10th anniversary as an artist this year, has this to say about it: “I pretty recently became single for the first time in seven years. I have two great relationships behind me, one lasting four years with a woman and another for seven years with a man. And it was really strange to experience that solitary lust that comes with being torn between feelings for your ex, yet at the same time having new feelings for new people.”
«Vakre Vene» is produced by Erlend Mokkelbost (Montée, JR Ewing), and the track is a statement from an artist at the peak of her creative powers.
“The past two years have been so full of contrasts. The wild life on tour, lockdown, illness and death in the family, breakups and then a new start. It’s all been both overwhelming and inspiring at the same time”, Silja says.
And it’s not hard to understand what she means. «Vakre Vene» is equal parts vulnerable, catchy, melancholy and uplifting, all at the same time. It’s a song for warm hearts in cold and turbulent times.
